Bajra Khichdi: Comfort & Nutritious Food That Your Body Needs During Monsoon

When it comes to comforting food, nothing beats khichdi. It tops the list. However, if you are tired of the regular recipe or practising rice detox, you must try this recipe of Haryanvi bajra khichdi.

Ingredients

½ bajra or pearl millet 4 cups water 1 tsp cumin seeds A pinch of hing ½ cup moong dal 2 tbsp ghee ½ cup moong dal ¼ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp ginger 1 chopped green chilli Salt to taste

Step 1

Soak bajra overnight and grind in a jar the next day. Add water to it and let it sit. Remove the husk and drain the water.

Step 2

In another bowl, rinse and soak moong dal. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds to it.

Step 3

After sauteing ginger, hing, and green chillies, add bajra paste. Pour water and season with turmeric powder and salt to taste.

Step 4

Close the cooker and wait for at least 4-5 whistles on medium heat. Open the cooker and add soaked moong dal to it.

Step 5

Wait for at least 5-6 whistles on medium heat before turning off the flame.

Step 6

Serve delicious bajra khichdi with a glass of buttermilk.
