Vada is a popular South Indian street food that is made for either breakfast or as an evening snack. For a typical rainy day, you can make crispy dal vada and pair it with a hot cup of chai.
1 cup chana dal 1/2 cup onion 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste 2 tablespoons coriander leaves 1 tablespoon curry leaves 2 green chillies 2 teaspoons red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon hing 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder Salt to taste Oil for frying
Rinse and soak chana dal for about 2-3 hours till the dal softens.
Grind the soaked chana dal with a bit of water.
Mix the ground dal with all the spices mentioned till you get a consistent mixture.
Take small portions of the batter and deep fry till they are crispy.
Pair with tea and serve with your favourite chutney.
