Manga Pachadi is a delightful South Indian dish that perfectly balances sweet, tangy, and spicy flavours. Its different flavours represent different emotions of life – sweetness for happiness, tanginess for surprise, and a touch of bitterness for the challenges of life. With its vibrant taste and cultural significance, it is a perfect dish for Tamil New Year.
1 chopped raw mango ½ cup jaggery ½ tsp red chilli powder ¼ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp neem flowers ½ tsp mustard seeds Handful of curry leaves 1 tsp oil Salt to taste
In a pan, boil chopped raw mango with water, turmeric, and salt until it softens.
Add jaggery and cook until it dissolves and simmer until it thickens in consistency.
Stir the red chilli powder and adjust the salt.
Heat oil in a pan, temper with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and neem flowers, and add it to the pachadi.
Serve it as a fresh and tangy side dish.
