Indulge in the authentic taste of Andhra with this zesty coconut chutney. Made with fresh coconut, spices, and a hint of tanginess, it's a perfect accompaniment to dosa, idli, or rice.
1 cup grated fresh coconut 2 tbsp chana dal (split Bengal gram) 2 tbsp roasted peanuts 2-3 dried red chilies 1 small onion, roughly chopped 2 cloves of garlic Small piece of tamarind Salt to taste Water as needed For tempering: 1 tsp oil 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 1-2 dried red chilies A few curry leaves
Heat a pan, dry roast the chana dal until it turns golden brown. In the same pan, dry roast the dried red chilies.
Remove and set aside. In a blender, add grated coconut, roasted chana dal and roasted peanuts.
Add dried red chilies, onion, garlic, tamarind, and salt. Grind the mixture, gradually add water. Adjust the consistency.
Now Transfer the chutney to bowl. In a separate small pan, heat oil, Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and dried red chilies.
