Aloo Tikki Chaat: Simple And Tasty Street Food

A simple and tasty street food or chaat mainly prepared from potato patties or potato tikki with other chaat chutneys and spices. Tikki chaat is a filling and appetizing snack that mainly originated in North India, but is hugely popular all over India today. Here is the recipe for Aloo Tikki Chaat.

Ingredients

FOR CHANA STUFFING: 2 tbsp oil 1 tsp cumin Pinch hing 4 chilli, finely chopped 1 inch ginger, finely chopped 2 tbsp cashew, chopped ½ tsp turmeric ½ tsp chilli powder 1 tsp coriander cumin powder 1 tsp amchur ½ tsp salt 1 cup chana dal, boiled 2 tbsp coriander, finely chopped

Ingredients

FOR ALOO COVERING: 3 potato, boiled & mashed ½ tsp salt ½ tsp pepper powder 2 tbsp coriander, finely chopped 2 tbsp corn flour Oil, for frying

Step 1

In a pan, heat oil and add cumin, pinch hing, chilli, ginger and saute until it turns aromatic. Add cashew and roast till the cashew turns crunchy. Keeping the flame on low add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander-cumin powder, amchur and salt. Saute on low flame until the spices turn aromatic.

Step 2

Now add pressure-cooked chana dal and mix well. Mash slightly, making sure everything is well combined. Add in coriander and mix well. Chana dal stuffing is ready. Keep aside.

Step 3

Now in a large bowl, take boiled and mashed potatoes, salt and pepper powder. Also, add coriander and corn flour. Mix well making sure everything is well combined.

Step 4

To prepare the tikki, grease your hands with oil and pinch a ball-sized dough. Flatten slightly, and stuff into a portion of prepared aloo stuffing. Stuff in and secure making sure the stuffing doesn't come out. Flatten slightly, to shape into tikki. Now fry in hot oil, keeping the flame on medium.

Step 5

Fry both the sides until they turn golden brown and crispy from both the sides. Now to prepare the chaat, place the tikki onto the plate. Top with curd, green chutney, tamarind chutney, chaat masala and coriander. Top aloo chaat recipe with sev before serving.
