While some of us may not be aware of it, alcohol with carbonated mixers contains gas that gets trapped in the body and results in bloating post drinking.
Don’t be in a rush to chug all that beer kept in front of you. The slower you sip your alcohol, the lesser will be your chances of bloating at night.
To avoid worsening the effects of alcohol, it is recommended to drink water before, during and after consuming alcohol. The inflammation would be lesser in this case.
While you might crave something salty by the end of your drinking session, avoid and opt for potassium-rich bites as salt retains the water in your body and adds to bloating.
Pairing alcohol with carbonated drinks simply adds the carbon dioxide you’re consuming at one time and increases your chances of bloating.
While smoking is generally injurious to health, it can actually worsen the bloating situation when done with alcohol since it also involves intake of a lot of air.
