Akki Roti: A Delicious Breakfast Delight From Karnataka

Akki roti is a flatbread from Karnataka which is made with rice flour . The word akki means rice and roti or rotti refers to flatbread. It is mostly served with spicy red chutney or coconut chutney. Here is an easy recipe to make this healthy breakfast at home.

Ingredients

1 cup rice flour ¼ cup coconut, finely chopped 3 sprigs coriander leaves, chopped 1 sprig curry leaves, chopped 1-2 green chilli 1 onion, finely chopped 1 tbsp ginger, finely chopped 3 tbsp cashewnuts & groundnuts, roasted & chopped salt to taste water as needed 2 tbsp sesame oil

Step 1

In a pan add rice flour, salt & water mix well and make dosa batter consistency. Heat rice flour batter, stir well till you get soft dough.

Step 2

Then add all ingredients and mix well. Divide the mixture into equal size balls. Grease banana leaf with oil, place the ball on it.

Step 3

Flatten it into a roti. Heat dosa tawa, pour 1 tbsp oil, place prepared roti and cook on both sides. Serve hot with chutney, sambar or pickle.
