Jaggery or gur, is a popular choice of food during the winter months thanks to its immunity-boosting properties and the ability to keep you warm. It can be consumed in many ways and one such way is by adding it to your daily chai to enhance the flavour of your chai.

1 cup of water Tea leaves (as per your preference) or tea bags 1-2 tablespoons of jaggery powder 1 small piece of grated ginger 2-3 crushed cardamom pods

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a saucepan.

When the water is boiling, add 1 to 2 teaspoons of tea leaves or a tea bag. Depending on your taste, adjust the amount.

To the boiling water, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of jaggery powder. Mix it well.

For added flavour, add a small piece of grated ginger and a couple of crushed cardamom pods. This optional step gives a wonderful fragrance touch to the tea.

Allow the tea to simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavours to combine. Adjust the simmering time according to how strong you like your tea.

After the tea has simmered, if you have used tea leaves, drain them to remove them. Pour the jaggery tea into the best cup and serve.
