Cocktails don’t have to be your guilty pleasure if you choose well! Go for smart substitutions in your booze to cut down on their caloric content. Not sure how to go about it? Here are a few tips

Choose low-calorie base spirits. For example, choose vodka, gin, or tequila over darker spirits like whiskey or rum. Clear spirits generally have fewer calories and are more neutral which makes them more versatile

Due to added sugars, traditional mixers and sodas can add a significant amount of calories. Choose sugar-free or diet versions of tonic water, ginger ale, or soda. You can also use sparkling water or club soda as a calorie-free mixer.

Replace sugary syrups with freshly squeezed juices. While natural fruit juices contain calories, they are often less concentrated and have fewer added sugars than commercial syrups. Opt for fresh lime, lemon, or other citrus juices for flavour.
