An Indian pantry is incomplete without fresh herbs, powdered masalas, and whole spices. No regional recipe can be prepared without a blend of these. If you are stacking these whole spices in your pantry, add them to the lot.
From tea to curries, cinnamon sticks are versatile in the kitchen. They are aromatic and add an earthy note to the recipe.
Your biryani, tea, and customised powdered masalas are incomplete without cloves. They are good for your oral hygiene as well.
A single bay leaf is enough to enhance the flavours of a dish. It adds depth and is a must-add to stews, soups, and rice-based delights.
Also called the king of spices, black peppercorns add an element of heat and pungent notes to the recipe. Soup and stews benefit from this spice.
Depending on what you are cooking, cardamom pods add freshness. For tea, use green ones, but for curries and rice dishes, use both green and black ones.
To add fragrances and depth of flavour to rice or gravy, star anise is crucial. You can also use it in the spice mixture for tea.
For elevating warmth and nutty flavours in a recipe, nutmeg mace is crucial. It can be used to make winter dishes and beverages aromatic.
