Coriander needs to be stored correctly to maintain its freshness, flavour, and nutritional value. Improper storage can lead to wilting, loss of aroma, and spoilage. By using the right methods, you can extend its shelf life and preserve its taste for longer.
Wrap fresh coriander leaves in a damp paper towel and place them in a plastic bag. Store in the fridge to keep them fresh for up to a week.
Store coriander in a herb keeper or jar with a little water at the bottom, like you would flowers, to maintain freshness.
Chop coriander and freeze it in ice cube trays with a bit of water or oil. Once frozen, transfer the cubes to a ziplock bag for easy use.
Place the coriander stems in a jar with water, covering the leaves loosely with a plastic bag. Keep it in the fridge for up to 10 days.
For dried coriander, hang the bunch upside down in a dry place to air-dry, then store the leaves in an airtight container.
If you plan to store coriander for a few days, avoid washing it first. Washing can make the leaves wilt faster.
For chopped coriander, store it in an airtight container or a sealed bag to retain its freshness and flavour for longer periods.
