Paneer is liked by everyone. Many people complain that their paneer gets spoiled quickly even after keeping it in the fridge. Some people say that keeping paneer changes the taste, while some people’s paneer turns hard. Here are 7 tips to preserve your paneer.

If you want to store paneer for 1-2 days then the simplest way is to put paneer in a vessel or box and fill it with water and refrigerate it. Make sure that the paneer is completely submerged in water. If the paneer is not immersed in water then it will become hard.

Cut it into pieces and keep these in a tray and keep them inside the freezer. When the paneer becomes hard as ice, put it in a zip bag and keep it in the freezer. Whenever you want to use paneer, take it out of the freezer and keep it outside in lukewarm water.

If you want to keep the paneer fresh throughout the week, take water in a bowl and put a teaspoon of salt and submerge the paneer in this water.

Another efficient method is to take a muslin cloth and wrap your paneer inside it. You don’t have to wrap it very tightly. Make sure all edges are sealed and that your paneer is not exposed from any area, or else that portion would harden with time. It is advisable to use a damp muslin cloth that helps lock the moisture.

While freezing might seem like a good idea for preserving paneer, it can alter the texture and affect the taste. Fresh paneer has a delicate texture, and freezing can make it crumbly or rubbery.

If you have a large quantity of paneer, consider dividing it into smaller portions. This reduces the frequency of opening the main storage container, minimising exposure to air and maintaining freshness.

To retain freshness, cut paneer into cubes or slices just before using it in your recipes. Exposing the entire block to air for an extended period can lead to quicker spoilage.
