During the monsoon season, the high humidity and moisture levels create favourable conditions for the growth of fungi, which can lead to food spoilage and contamination. Here are seven tips to help you keep your food fungus-free during the monsoon.
Ensure that all perishable food items, such as fruits, vegetables, and cooked meals, are stored in airtight containers in the refrigerator.
Clean your kitchen regularly, paying special attention to areas where moisture can accumulate, such as countertops and sink areas.
Place desiccants like silica gel packets or dry neem leaves in food storage containers.
Ensure that there are no areas of stagnant water near your kitchen or food storage areas.
Thoroughly wash all fruits and vegetables before consuming or storing them.
When cleaning utensils or cutting boards, use a mixture of vinegar or lemon juice and water.
Discard any food items that have passed their expiration dates or show signs of spoilage.
