In summer, you make different kinds of beverages and cool bowls that cannot be done without refreshing mint leaves. Instead of buying them from the market, here are a few tips to follow to grow mint plants at home in a bottle.
Choose a bottle with a wide mouth and space for long roots to grow. Clean it thoroughly to ensure no dirt or soap residue remains in it.
Mint requires a well-drained soil. Hence, poke holes in a bottle and add some pebbles at the bottom. This will prevent waterlogging.
Buy a high-quality pot mixture from a nursery and add it to the bottle. Do not fill it to the brim but leave space for some cuttings.
To grow mint plants, you need to select healthy cuttings and trim them right below a node, where leaves grow.
Add the bottom cuttings with roots in the soil you added to the bottle. Press the surrounding soil to ensure the plant is fixed.
Add a small amount of water to the plant and place it under indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight will damage the leaves before they can grow.
Once you witness the plant growing in the bottle, make sure to harvest leaves and trim them regularly to promote bushier growth.
