One thing that pandemic has taught the world is the value of cleanliness and hygiene. It also applies to vegetables and fresh produce. Your veggies might carry a lot of dirt and dust, and hence, it is crucial to clean them before cooking. Here are a few tips to ensure that the fresh produce in your home is free from all kinds of germs.

Use Cold Water

Always use cold water to wash vegetables. You can simply wash them under tap water. If you use any detergent, it will seep inside the vegetables and ruin them.

Wash Your Hands

Before you wash the vegetables, you must wash your hands. They might have a lot of bacteria that can penetrate the skin of the fresh produce.

Wash Thoroughly

Vegetables like lettuce and cabbage need thorough washing. You cannot just run these under tap water. Remove any visible spots and allow the water to rinse all the layers.

Dry Them

After washing, you must dry the vegetables. Either spread them on a towel or pat dry them with tissue before storing. It will increase shelf life.
