Summer brings the mango season, but it also brings rising mercury which can damage the fruit quickly. Hence, you need to learn a few storage tips to keep mangoes fresh despite the scorching heat. Note these recommendations.
To ripen mangoes faster, wrap them in paper bags that can absorb ethylene gas and keep them in the refrigerator.
When you store mangoes, make sure you dry the skin and refrigerate later. Moisture can ruin the produce.
To store sliced mangoes, always use an airtight container. It will prevent the pulp from drying out and absorb surrounding odour.
Mangoes should not receive direct sunlight. You must either refrigerate them or keep them in a cool and dark place.
After storing, keep a check on mangoes to see if any fruit is about to go mad. Eat it as soon as possible.
If you want to store mangoes for a long, peel and slice them, and keep them in the freezer in an airtight container.
You can also blend mango into a bowl of puree and freeze it in an ice tray. Use the cubes later while making mocktails or smoothies.
