Fasting during Navratri is a feasting experience for many, but it can get a little tricky if you avoid eating onion and garlic. While this can be an issue when you are wandering the street, you can certainly enjoy a chaat session at home. Here are some ideas.

Aloo Tikki

Prepare a spiced mixture of boiled potatoes, divide it into pattice, coat them with flour, and shallow-fry until both sides are crispy.

Sabudana Tikki

When you are fasting and have prepared sabudana vadas, top them with beaten curd, green chutney, pomegranates, and crushed aloo chips.

Aloo Paneer Tikki

To the aloo tikki mixture, add crumbled paneer. You can also stuff aloo with it. Spread tikkis on a platter and top them with curd, chutney, bhujia, and red chilli powder.

Moong Dal Tikki

To a thick paste of moong dal, add potatoes, green chillies, and spices. Deep-fry tikkis and serve them with curd and green chutney on the side.

Raw Banana Tikki

Instead of aloo, you can also prepare tikkis with raw bananas. Make the mixture flavourful with spices and garnish tikkis with curd, chutney, pomegranate, and black pepper.

Beetroot Tikki

Beetroot is another nutritious ingredient you can use to prepare tikkis. You can relish them with green mint chutney, ketchup, and spicy curd mix on the side.

Sweet Potato Tikki

You can replace potatoes with sweet potatoes when preparing shallow-fried chaat delight. Don’t forget to serve with kala chana, chutney, and curd on the side.
