Monsoon brings a lot of hygiene issues with it. From fungi growth to the attack of roaches, the list is never-ending. Here are a few cautious steps you can take to keep pests at bay in your kitchen this monsoon.
Take a tape or seal to close any kind of entry points in the kitchen. This includes space near the chimney tube or holes between tiles and countertop.
Pests, including roaches and flies hide in cluttered areas. Therefore, it is essential that you keep the space decluttered all the time.
Though you want to keep pests away, using chemicals can contaminate the kitchen. Therefore, you can use neem leaves and essential oils as natural repellents.
If the kitchen has leaking faucets and pipes, get them repaired ASAP. You should also ensure the kitchen remains dry and clean at all times.
Keep the lid of the dustbin tightly closed, and keep it hidden so that flies and roaches cannot reach it. You should also practice garbage disposal every day.
In monsoon, do not leave food out in the open because it will attract pests. Moreover, this will increase the chances of contamination, foodborne illnesses, and waste.
Regularly clean pipes and drains so that blockages do not happen. Buildup can invite pests but you can clean it using baking soda and vinegar.
