Babies typically shed weight in the first couple of weeks after their birth. Similarly, their weight tends to fluctuate as they grow and become more physically active. Here are some foods to enable weight gain in babies once they start consuming solid food. Do consult your doctor before starting your baby on any of these foods.
Butters derived from peanuts, almonds, or cashews are nutritious and rich sources of healthy fats, encouraging healthy weight gain in babies. Take care of any nut allergies though.
Bananas are loaded with good fats as well as protein, fibre, and calcium; mash or slice bananas and feed them to your baby help them pack the pounds.
Being a dairy product, cheese is packed with healthy fats that aid weight gain in babies; feed your baby mashed cottage cheese or grate some cheese on other treats.
Oatmeal is a healthy weight-boosting food that can easily be added to food mashes and purees; it is also abundant in vital nutrients and minerals, such as iron and zinc.
Pears have been found to have a higher calorie count than other foods, enabling weight gain. Pureed pears are available in stores for easy baby consumption.
Certain brands of full-fat yoghurts are designed especially for babies to ensure their healthy growth and nourishment; this soft food is also easy for babies to eat.
Olive oil has been found to have more calorie per gram of fat than carbs, making it a health-boosting foods; drizzle some olive oil on usual baby foods and feed it to your baby.
