While copper cookware is considered a smart choice, it can also react badly with certain ingredients. For instance, salty food which has iodin can react badly with copper. Similarly there are some other ingredients, which should never be cooked in copper cookware

Tomatoes are highly acidic and cooking them at high temperatures in a copper utensil can lead to a chemical reaction which causes nausea and vomiting

Since milk is high in minerals, if it's cooked in copper at a high temperature it can lead to food poisoning

Beware of adding lemon juice to anything that is being cooked in copper pans, since copper escalates corrosion if it meets citric acid
