Bananas are common fruits that people enjoy on a daily basis. But one problem with these humble fruits is that they lose their freshness pretty quickly in 2-3 days. So, to make sure that their freshness is preserved and the browning is delayed to some extent, follow these tips the next time you buy bananas.

Bananas turn brown due to the enzymatic browning. It involves the enzyme polyphenol oxidase (PPO) which reacts with oxygen.

Separating the bananas from each other slows down the ripening process as compared to when they are clustered together.

Make sure you wrap the stem of the bananas with aluminium foil or plastic wrap to slow down the ripening process.
