Cleaning utensils can be a chore if you don't know how to do them right. Some oil stains, food marks are difficult to scrub off and you may need some practical techniques. If you wash dishes in your home on a daily basis, here are some functional ways you can try out.
Fill a sink or basin with hot water and add dish soap. Submerge the utensils in the soapy water and let them soak for a few minutes to loosen any food residue. Use a sponge or scrub brush to scrub the utensils thoroughly, then rinse them with clean water.
If your utensils are dishwasher-safe, load them into the dishwasher according to the manufacturer's instructions. Make sure to scrape off any large food particles before loading. Run the dishwasher on the appropriate cycle with detergent.
For stubborn stains or odors, soak the utensils in a solution of equal parts vinegar and water. Let them soak for about 15-30 minutes, then scrub them with a sponge or brush and rinse with water. Vinegar helps break down grease and mineral deposits.
Make a paste using baking soda and water. Apply the paste to the utensils and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, scrub the utensils with a sponge or brush to remove stubborn stains or residue. Rinse thoroughly with water.
Boil a pot of water and immerse the utensils in it for a few minutes. The hot water will help loosen any stuck-on food particles. After boiling, use tongs or a utensil to remove the items carefully, and then wash them with soap and water as usual.
If you have a steam cleaner, use it to clean your utensils. The high-temperature steam helps dissolve grease and grime, making it easier to wipe away. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for using the steam cleaner safely on utensils.
Line a sink or basin with aluminum foil, shiny side up. Fill it with hot water and add a few tablespoons of baking soda. Place the utensils in the solution, making sure they touch the foil. Let them soak for about 15-30 minutes, then scrub and rinse as usual. The combination of aluminum foil and baking soda creates a chemical reaction that helps remove stubborn stains.
