The winter season is about enjoying seasonal fruits, especially sweet and sour strawberries. However, they need cleaning before you eat them or add them to a fruit bowl because they might contain impurities and dirt. Here is a quick guide to effectively cleaning them at home.

Baking soda can be used to clean strawberries effectively. Add a teaspoon of this powder to four cups of water. Stir the liquid until the powder dissolves in it completely.

Instead of baking soda, you can also immerse strawberries in a mixture of vinegar and water. It will also help you get rid of impurities.

Add strawberries to this mixture and toss them around. Leave them in the bowl for at least 10 minutes to let impurities separate from the fruit.

Drain the liquid in the bowl using a large sieve or a drainer bowl to ensure that separated impurities are washed off.

Give strawberries a good rinse under the tap water to ensure all the dirt and remaining impurities are washed off.

Spread strawberries on a paper towel and pat dry them. It will ensure all the moisture is removed and strawberries are ready to eat or store.
