No matter what the season is, Bengali bhajas are amazing snacks to serve guests or relish with tea or meals. If you are a non-Bengali, you must try these bhajas for a comforting and flavourful indulgence.
Thin slices of potatoes are fried until they turn golden brown and often served with rice and dal. You can also consume them as a standalone snack.
Made from masoor or chana dal, these fritters are crispy and pair well with your evening tea. The coarse paste of lentils contains spices that make the bhajas flavour bombs.
Shukto bhajas are prepared by fritters of potatoes, bitter gourd, sweet potatoes, and eggplant. The veggies are fried separately and served with a creamy gravy.
Peyaji is onion fritters. The vegetable is sliced and tossed in a spiced gram flour mix. These slices are deep-fried until crispy.
For beguni bhaja, eggplants are thinly sliced, coated with gram flour batter, and deep-fried until the crust is crispy. They taste delicious with puffed rice.
Jhinhe bhaja is a ridge gourd fritter recipe that will leave you asking for more. This snack is best served with dal and rice to complete the meal.
A pumpkin is sliced and seasoned with turmeric, salt, and mustard oil. It is deep-fried until the insides are soft and the crust is crunchy. It is also paired with dal chawal.
