Reheating day-old pasta is always tricky. Not all pasta types can be reheated in the microwave; the saucier the pasta, the trickier it is to heat up the next day. Here are some easy functional ways to reheat pasta so it tastes fresh and delicious the next day!

Stovetop method

Place the pasta in a skillet or saucepan. Add a small amount of water, broth, or sauce to prevent it from drying out. Heat on medium-low, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is heated through. This method maintains the texture and flavor well.

Microwave with moisture

Place the pasta in a microwave-safe dish. Add a splash of water or sauce, and cover the dish with a microwave-safe lid or plastic wrap, leaving a small vent. Heat on medium power in 1-minute intervals, stirring in between, until hot.

Oven method

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pasta in an oven-safe dish and cover with aluminum foil. Add a little water or sauce if the pasta looks dry. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until heated through. The oven method provides even heating and is good for large quantities, although it takes longer than other methods.

Double boiler method

Fill a pot with a few inches of water and bring it to a simmer. Place a heatproof bowl over the pot, making sure it doesn’t touch the water. Put the pasta in the bowl and stir occasionally until heated through. This gentle heating method preserves the texture of the pasta but is slightly more labor-intensive.

Steaming

Fill a pot with a few inches of water and bring it to a simmer. Place a heatproof bowl over the pot, making sure it doesn’t touch the water. Put the pasta in the bowl and stir occasionally until heated through. This gentle heating method preserves the texture of the pasta but is slightly more labor-intensive.

Reheat with sauce

If you have leftover sauce, add the pasta to it and reheat together in a skillet over medium heat. Stir occasionally until both the pasta and sauce are hot. This method enhances the flavor as the pasta absorbs the sauce well, but it only works if you have sauce available.
