Monsoon season in every state brings out the delicious treasure of treats, to be enjoyed with a cup of chai or coffee. Here are 6 Odia dishes that are a must-try in monsoon:

Bara

Bara is a popular snack in Odisha; it is prepared by soaking urad dal overnight, grinding it into a batter, mixing it with spices, and frying it. 

Manda Pitha

A steamed sweet dish, Manda Pitha, is made from rice flour dough stuffed with coconut, jaggery, and cardamom. 

Pumpkin Flower Fritters

Also known as Kakharu Phula Bhaja, is a crunchy treat. The pumpkin flowers are dipped in a gram flour batter and deep-fried until golden brown. 

Kakara Pitha 

A traditional sweet from Odisha, made from rice flour and jaggery, then deep-fried to a crisp.

Mudhi Mansa

A unique dish that combines puffed rice (mudhi) with spicy mutton curry (mansa), Mudhi Mansa is a popular delicacy in northern Odisha. 

Dahibara Aloodum 

A beloved street food, Dahibara Aloodum consists of soft lentil dumplings soaked in seasoned yoghurt, served with spicy potato curry, and garnished with sev and chopped onions.
