One of the Indian dishes that scream comfort is rasam rice. This South Indian combination satisfies your cravings and leaves your taste buds tantalised because of its sourness. Whether you are sick or have a long day, this one-pot dish will instantly make you feel better.
1 tsp cumin, hing ½ cup rice 2 tbsp moong, toor dal 1 tsp ghee, mustard seeds 1 tomato 1 tbsp tamarind paste 7-8 curry leaves 1 tsp crushed pepper 2 tsp sambar masala 1 tbsp coriander leaves 3-5 chopped garlic South Indian red chillies for tempering
Soak dal, rice, and tamarind for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, chop tomatoes and garlic.
Crush cumin seeds and peppercorn.
Heat ghee or coconut oil in a pressure cooker and add coriander stems, dal, rice, tamarind water, hing, and other ingredients.
Add 4 cups of water and wait for four whistles to blow before turning off the flame.
Open the pressure cooker, add sambar masala, and adjust the consistency of water.
After cooking it for 5 minutes, add the tempering of mustard seeds, red chillies, and curry leaves before serving it hot.
