Marinating paneer before adding the cubes to a skewer or cooking is the first step to making an otherwise bland ingredient flavourful. It adds a coating of spices to the cottage cheese and makes it irresistible. Here is your guide to marinating paneer using curd.
½ cup yoghurt 1 teaspoon coriander powder 250 gm paneer Salt to taste 1 teaspoon red chilli powder Fresh coriander leaves 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste 1 teaspoon cumin powder Lemon juice 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
Place the paneer on a chopping board and cut it into cubes or triangles. You can define the size according to your requirements.
In a large bowl, combine curd with all the spices. Give this concoction a good mix so that there are no lumps in it.
Add paneer cubes to the bowl and gently toss them to coat with the curd-based marination.
Put a lid on the top of the bowl or cover it with a plastic wrap and keep it aside. If you marinate paneer for at least 2-4 hours, you will get the best results.
Before you are about to fry or add paneer cubes to a skewer for roasting, add a teaspoon of lemon juice for citrus flavours.
Serve paneer tikka, paneer wrap, or paneer curry hot along with chutney, roti, rice, or other accompaniments.
