Dipping into a decadent, creamy helping of pudding or a sweet treat is sheer comfort on chilly, windy, rainy evenings. Here are some desserts that can be enjoyed post dinner for a feeling of warmth and luxury during monsoons.
Made from khoya, sugar and nuts, and soaked in the saccharine goodness of sugar syrup, warm gulab jamun is the perfectly indulgent dessert on a chilly evening. Do not top at one!
This melt-in-your-mouth pancake is a mouthwatering northern Indian dessert. A warm malpua, drizzled with rabdi is just sheer creamy luxury on a rainy evening.
Fried bread dipped in saffron and rose water, topped with condensed milk, dry fruits and cardamom is as delicious as it indulgent, regal and luxe.
Made with khoya, almonds, sugar and cardamom, this dessert is true milky indulgence. Cooked in generous amounts of ghee, dudh no halvo, or, kalakand is a rich dessert for monsoon get togethers.
This delicious milk-based penda has a slightly granular texture than the regular pedha but it is just as sweet, rich and indulgent.
Kheer or payasam is best enjoyed warm with fried puris. Payasam made from milk, sugar, rice and sometimes even khoya is an indulgent and comforting choice of sweet pudding.
