In winter, the plants are without leaves. Hence, you have to purchase curry leaves from the market. The task is to store them and keep them fresh for a long time. This short guide will help you increase the shelf life of curry leaves.

Freeze

You can add 4-5 curry leaves in each section of an ice tray. Freeze them with water and use the cubes when needed.

Refrigerate

Use a zip-lock bag lined with tissues to store curry leaves in a refrigerator. It will prevent build-up of moisture.

Use Tissues

If you have to store the leaves in an airtight container, use tissues. The thin paper will absorb all kinds of moisture and keep the leaves fresh.

Store In Oil

Wash, dry, and saute curry leaves in a small amount of oil. The oil will be infused with the aroma of leaves and can be used for a couple of months.

You can buy curry leaves in a large batch, let them air dry, and grind into a smooth powder. You can store leaves for a year like this.

Sun Dry

If you can sun dry leaves, you can store them for 6-12 months. You can also air dry them or use the microwave, but make sure not to burn them.
