Who does not like cheesy food? Several vidoes get viral everyday where 'influencers' experiment with cheese. But do you know, India is the home to many unique cheese types? Following are 6 Indian cheeses.
This brown, smoked cheese is found in Bandel region of West Bengal and it is one of the saltiest varieties of cheese. It tastes great when added in pastas and salads.
This rather chewy yak cheese variety is found all across the Himalayan region. It is in fact sold as dog chew in the USA!
Very similar to mozzerella, this cheese is found in Jammu and Kashmir. Kalari is stretchy and used to make several popular street snacks like kulcha in the state.
A little acidic in taste, Kalimpong has a texture that resembles gouda. It does not have a very strong smell and can be used to make sandwiches.
The most famous Indian cheese variety, paneer is eaten in the form of gravies, bhurji, paratha, pakoda and many more dishes.
Also called datshi, this crumbly cheese is used to make the popular Bhutanese dish Ema Datshi. Churu is made from yak milk and resembles ricotta cheese.
