6 Bengali Snacks To Try This Monsoon

The rains are finally here and in Bengal, the best way to enjoy them is with a cup of hot tea and a plate full of snacks. 

Beguni 

This is a deep-fried, sliced eggplant fritter dipped in a seasoned gram flour batter.

Mochar Chop 

These fried cutlets of banana flowers are made by mixing them with mashed potatoes and spices and coating them with breadcrumbs before frying.

Aloor Chop  

Spiced mashed potato patties, battered and fried to a crisp. They are served with tomato ketchup, green chutney, or topped with jhal muri.

Jhal Muri 

A spicy puffed rice mix with roasted peanuts, chopped veggies, mustard oil, and lemon juice. This snack pairs well with a cup of tea.

Telebhaja 

Deep-fried assorted vegetables or fish coated in a seasoned gram flour batter.

Ghugni 

This is a spicy stew made from soaked and pressure-cooked yellow peas with onions, tomatoes, and dry spices, which is eaten as a snack on its own.

Peyaji

This snack is onion fritters deep-fried in a spiced gram flour batter with nigella seeds.
