5 Vrat-Friendly Recipes For Sawan

Sawan which translates to rain or monsoon, is a month of fasting. Vrat foods like sabudana khichdi, kuttu pooris etc are much savoured this season.

Samak Chawal Dhokla

The soft and spongy dhokla, that is popular in Gujarati homes, is made with samak ke chawal which happens to be a short-grain rice.

Sabudana Tikki

The sabudana is mixed with mashed potatoes to make flat roundels. The tikkis are fried and finally, served hot.

Peanut Salad

Peanuts add a crunchy touch to your vrat snacks. Vegetables like coriander leaves and boiled potatoes are added to peanuts and it is seasoned with rock salt.

Dates Laddoos

These vrat laddoos make use of dates for this snack. The dates are tossed in ghee with chopped nuts and roasted dry coconut powder.

Makhana, also called fox nuts, is a healthy snack that is perfect for Sawan. The fox nuts are tossed in amchur powder, pepper powder and rock salt.
