Eggs are one of the most common and versatile ingredients that is widely used across the world. Eggs are often consumed as omelettes, bhurji, hard-boiled, poach, etc. However, peeling hard-boiled eggs can be a frustrating task. Here are 5 easy steps that can help you to peel hard-boiled eggs easily. Take a look:
Fresh eggs are harder to peel because the whites adhere more strongly to the inner shell membrane. Using eggs that are about a week old will make peeling much easier, as the pH level changes, reducing the bonding.
Adding a teaspoon of baking soda or a splash of vinegar to the boiling water can help. These substances permeate the shell and loosen the bond between the egg white and the shell, making peeling simpler.
After boiling, immediately transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water. This rapid cooling process causes the egg to contract slightly, creating a gap between the egg white and the shell. Leave the eggs in the ice bath for at least 5-10 minutes.
Gently roll the egg on a hard surface to create a network of cracks. Tap each end of the egg and peel from the wider end where there is usually an air pocket, making it easier to start the peeling process.
Peel the eggs under a running tap. The water helps separate the shell from the egg, washing away any tiny fragments and making the entire process cleaner and quicker.
