5 Indian Desserts That Are Made Without Chhena

Let us look at some perfect desserts for you if you're lactose intolerant or just want to omit chhena from your sweets.

Narkoler Nadu

This dessert from West Bengal is a part of celebrations of major festivals like Durga Pujo. These sweet balls are made with coconut, sugar or jaggery and cardamom.

Ghevar

This honey-comb shaped dessert looks as delicious as it tastes. A traditional Rajasthani delicacy, Ghevar is especially consumed during Teej and Rakshabandhan.

Mysore Pak

Made with just 3 main ingredients, Mysore Pak is easy to prepare and tasty to eat.  Karnataka's Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar’s head chef came up with the dish by accident.

Puran Poli

Puran in Marathi means stuffing while Poli means flatbread. The dish is made by stuffing dal and jaggery into wheat doughs and using rolling pins to make them into polis.

Banana Unniyappam

These sweet fritters are made with coconut, jaggery, rice flour, banana and some spices like clove and cardamom. They are served in the temples and during Onam as Sadya.
