Lohri is a Punjabi festival that people celebrate by lighting bonfires, around which they sing and dance all night long, but not without the festive delicacies. Here are some Halwas you can make for the festival.  

Gajar Halwa

Made with grated carrots, khoya, ghee and loads of nuts, this dessert is the crown jewel of desi winter fare.

Moong Dal Halwa

Ground moong dal cooked with oodles of ghee, nuts and cardamom. Not just Lohri, Moong Dal ka halwa is a popular dessert item in North Indian weddings too.

Badaam Halwa

Grind those almonds, cook them with milk, and fragrant spices for this Halwa that spells royal indulgence. 

Beetroot Halwa

Grate this pink winter vegetable and cook with milk, sugar and ghee. Top with nuts of your choice and munch away.

Gond Halwa
