The moisture and humidity in monsoon decreases the shelf life of various foods. Most of the foods become soggy and lose their freshness and taste due to weather conditions. Here are some tips to keep foods fresh during monsoon:
Store salt, sugar, cookies, and wafers in airtight glass containers to prevent absorption of moisture and any effect on their taste.
Vegetables like eggplant, cucumber, green onions and lady finger can be stored in a cloth towel to kep freshness intact during monsoon.
Avoid cooking food in excess during monsoon as fungus can easily contaminate the excess food in the refrigerator during rainy season.
Another way to keep food away from moisture and humidity is to run the food in the microwave. Warm the food before use.
