Due to the moisture and rains, insect and flies increase during monsoon season and can be health hazards leading to foodborne diseases. Here are the hacks you need to keep insects and flies at bay.
Wipe down all surfaces regularly to remove any spilled food or sticky residues that can attract flies and insects.
Store food, whether it’s dry, cooked or uncooked, in airtight containers to prevent insects from accessing it.
Make sure your garbage bins have tight-fitting lids to prevent flies from entering and dispose trash every day.
Clogged or dirty drains can attract flies, so regularly clean your kitchen drains and pipes using natural cleaning agents.
Install fly screens on windows and doors to prevent flies and other insects from entering your kitchen.
Minimize the entry points for insects by keeping doors and windows closed as much as possible and plugging any leaks.
Place natural insect repellents, like herbs and essential oils in your kitchen to deter flies and insects.
Check for any stagnant water in and around your kitchen area, as it can attract mosquitoes as well as flies.
Clean appliances like toasters, microwave ovens, and blenders regularly, as food residue can attract insects.
If you have a persistent problem with flies and insects in your kitchen despite preventive measures, call pest control.
