Albuquerque is commonly referred to as ABQ, Burque, or Duke City. It is the most populous city in New Mexico in the United States. It was named in honour of Francisco Fernández de la Cueva, 10th Duke of Alburquerque and Viceroy of New Spain.

It was founded in 1706 as La Villa de Alburquerque by Santa Fe de Nuevo México governor Francisco Cuervo y Valdés. It functioned as an outpost on El Camino Real, connecting Mexico City to the northernmost regions of New Spain.

The city, part of the Albuquerque Basin, is bisected by the Rio Grande and Bosque, which run through it from north to south. To the east and west, respectively, are the Sandia Mountains and West Mesa.

Media, fine arts, and technology businesses are concentrated in Albuquerque. Numerous historic sites can be found there, along with various restaurants serving international and New Mexican fare. Here are the top six restaurants to try in the city.
