Sushi has emerged as one of the most popular Japanese delicacies today. It is essentially comprises of small, bite-sized balls or rolls of vinegar-flavored cold rice that is combined with vegetables, meat or raw sea food. Did you know the word 'sushi' means "it is sour", and while you may have had many different flavoured sushis in your life, traditionally the raw sea food, the vinegar ad the soy sauce are supposed to leave a sour mouth-feel after you have tuck into a sushi.

Sushi traces its origins to 3rd-5th century B.C, it is said that they were a staple among people working on the paddy fields, where it was a common practice to ferment fish with salt, rice and vinegar, after which the rice would be discarded. The earliest form of sushi (narezsushi), was created in Japan around the Yayoi period. One of the trickiest parts of making sushi is making the rice, with right consistency and sourness. With this recipe, you can nail sushi rice at home.
