Have you come across a crispy and crunchy snack from India? Well, there are plenty. One of the popular ones include samosa. Also called as sanbusaj and sambusak in some countries, the samosa is a deep-fried potato snack. The dough is filled with potatoes and spices and fried until golden-brown. From its Middle-Eastern roots to its entry into the Indian cuisine during the Delhi Sultanate, the samosa has seen many transformations. It could be a vegetarian treat or a meaty delight, with minced chicken or mutton. Then there are other variationns like Chinese samosa, noodle samosa, pasta samosa and many others. In various regions, samosa is referred to by different names like singhara in Bengal etc. Here is an interesting recipe of a pinwheel shaped samosa. The spices and herbs of desi samosas are rolled in the shape of pinwheels and stuffed with potatoes, veggies, spices and seasonings. These are deep-fried in hot oil and served with a chutney on the side.
