Pesarattu, pesara dosa, cheeldo or pesara attu originates in Andhra Pradesh. It is a crepe-like bread that is quite similar to dosa. But, unlike dosa, it doesn't have urad dal; it's made with green gram batter instead. Pesarattu is made from green moong dal, which can be eaten as a snack and breakfast. But first things first, what does pesarattu mean? ‘Pesarattu’ is a Telugu word derived from “pesara”, which implies moong dal and “attu” refers to dosa. Thus it signifies moong dal dosa. So are you feeling like eating something different? Then give a try to this effortless Andhra style dosa. You have to soak the moong dal in water for five hours and later grind them with spices and herbs. After sanding, you can straightaway use the batter as it doesn't require fermenting. Pesarattu can be made with whole yellow moong lentils or split husked moong beans.
