Making your own mixes is all about saving money, feeding your family healthier meals, and adding fabulous flavor to meals. This recipe is no exception; it's very simple to make, much less expensive than commercial salt-free seasoning mixes and can be adjusted to your taste. No salt seasoning mix is also wonderful for those who are watching their sodium intake. Sprinkle this mix on any meat before you roast or grill it, and use it on vegetables and in casseroles. You can also try my seasoned salt mix recipe; that one does contain sodium, but much less than using kosher or table salt. You can vary the herbs and spices in this recipe as you'd like. Use basil or oregano instead of (or in addition to) the thyme leaves. Use smoked paprika, or try a combination of both sweet and smoked. You can also vary the proportions; add more onion powder, or reduce the celery seed. Tarragon, sage, or marjoram would also be delicious in this easy recipe. Store your mix in a glass jar with a lid that closes tightly. Keep it in a cool and dark place so the mix holds its flavor. It should last about 4 months if properly stored. You can also make another batch and keep it on the table to add to food as you eat.
