The fourth of july is a date that everyone at home anxiously awaits. Every year we get together with friends to have breakfast, but this breakfast is extra special since its shared with all the neighbors on the block On this patriotic day all the children bring their bikes, we sing the national anthem and eat together. What i love the most is that we celebrate this get-together at breakfast time, which lets us bring a wide variety of dishes, from vegetable frittata to fresh and juicy watermelon. Its also wonderful to see how some of the neighbors use their creativity and share dishes that use the colors of the flag: red, white and blue. This year i wanted to be among the people who bring a plate with these three colors. I was thinking over several ideas, and in the end i decided on something that we make regularly at home-a parfait-only that on this occasion i picked red and blue fruits to go with the white yogurt. What i like about this parfait is that its delicious, quick to prepare and very light; perfect for this warm summer morning. Ive named it independence parfait and this is what youll need to make it.
