Chicken Teriyaki is perhaps one of the most beloved Japanese delicacies that has found fans across the globe. The word Teriyaki means "glossy broil" in Japanese. The technique of marinating fish in sauce and then grilling it, became very popular in 17th century Japan. Many different styles of marination were experimented with, but a certain combination of rice wine (sake), sugar and soy sauce would yield very glossy results. Soon 'Teriyaki' dishes became a rage across Japan. Teriyaki became popular in the United States during the 1960s, when many Japanese immigrants settled down in Hawai.
Chicken Teriyaki is basically just chicken fried along with veggies, sugar, soy sauce and sake. Sprinkle some green onions on top for the crunch and savour with rice, just like the Japanese. You can also pair it with noodles if you want. Make sure you serve it hot for an authentic experience.
