From kids to the elders, samosa is a favorite snack in India. Samosa, for the unversed, is a deep-fried conical pastry that is generally stuffed with boiled and diced spicy potato filling. Although they enjoy immense popularity in the Indian sub-continent, they have their origins in the Middle-East, particularly Zanzibar and Egypt. The samosas traversed from being sambusak and sanbusaj to the humble samosa. It was during the Delhi Sultanate that the samosa was brought to India and this finds evidence in writings of Abu Fazl. Today, you have a variety of samosas, ranging from fusions like noodle samosa, pizza samosa and chocolate samosa to meaty versions like mutton samosa, keema samosa and the like. This samosa is a little different because the filling is that of minced chicken. Made with a spicy chicken filling and flour, deep fried in hot oil, the chicken samosa can also feature as a popular festive snack served on the occasion of Ramdan.
