Chicken Cheese Steak Recipe

Recipe By Lake Geneva Country Meats

What do you do when you want a cheese steak sandwich, but you've got chicken on the meal plan? You make this delicious chicken cheese steak recipe, that's what you do We know that the classic recipe calls for beef, and "Steak" Is in the name of this recipe, but sometimes, you're just not feeling beef and want to use chicken instead. If this is how you feel, don't worry, this chicken cheese steak recipe is exactly what you need to make an incredible sandwich using slices of chicken breast instead of strips of steak. It still has great flavor, lots of peppers and onions, and, of course, gooey melted cheeseA the key to our chicken cheese steak recipe is filleting the chicken into cutlets and cooking them in the oven for even cooking and juicy flavor. Once they're cooked in the oven, you can slice them into thin strips to fill the sandwich. We much prefer this method to cutting the chicken into strips and pan frying it, because this method stops the chicken from drying out in the frying pan. We also like that this method results in evenly sized pieces of chicken for our sandwiches, and if you use large chicken breasts for this recipe like we have at lake geneva country meats, this is definitely the best way to cook chicken There are plenty of ways you can customize our chicken cheese steak recipe to suit your own tastes. For instance, we chose to use mozzarella cheese for this recipe, but you can use provolone as an authentic philly style substitute. American cheese or cheez whiz also work, or even pepper jack cheese for a bit of spice Feel free to add sauted mushrooms or pickled jalapeos if you'd like more vegetables, and adding a bit of marinara or pizza sauce wouldn't hurt if you like a "Pizza" Flavored type of chicken cheese steak sandwich.
