Weekends are for indulging and we didn’t make the rules. In the west, the phenomenon may be tied with the feast that follows the Sunday Mass at Church. In England, people would roast a whole chicken or veal that would be eaten by every member of the family together on the dining table. In India, while there is no popular tradition of ‘weekend feasting’ per say, but any off day, or a Holiday, that gives you room to cook, is a good enough reason to feast. And no feast is alone without some refreshing drinks. It is amazing how in India, the beverage menu is also upgraded as per the season. While in winters, masala chai and coffee soothe your throat, in summer, one is always on the lookout for something cool, refreshing and light, like Masala Chaas or the Indian buttermilk. Chaas, Jaljeera, Lassi, Shikanji Sharbat etc are all summer staples, especially up in North India. But unlike sharbat, Masala Chaas is not sweet. It in fact, celebrates the Indian spice stash in all its glory. You find everything in this buttermilk, from salt, jeera powder to black pepper. Additionally, you can also spruce it up by adding coriander leaves or a few sprigs of mint leaves and green chillies.
Barbeque Nation, India’s beloved buffet restaurant is known for their range of Indian starters like grilled corn, pineapples, chicken tikka, seekh kebabs, fish tikka, salsa potato et al. To down these yummy barbecue treats you also need an amazing drink, don’t you feel? So, to enhance your summer feast, the buffet restaurant has launched a new buttermilk drink in the menu
