Samosas have been ruling our hearts for ages be it any normal day or a special occasion. Everyone in India knows what samosa is but have you ever thought about what could be Hyderabad’s take on a samosa? Let's find out.

Well, the Hyderabadi version of samosa is Warqi Lukhmi. Heard of it before? This crispy, flaky and delicious snack has meat stuffing inside it and tastes amazing. It is the go-to snack in Hyderabad and once you have it, it would be hard for you to get over it. If you are vegetarian, you can replace it with either a spicy potato filling or grated paneer. But for non-vegetarians, you won’t be required to tamper with the original taste of this Hyderabadi starter. Not only it is delicious, but it also gets ready in no time. Wanna know how to make it? Ingredients 

  • 250 gm minced chicken (you can also take mutton) 
  • 2 cups maida 
  • 150 gm butter 
  • 1 tbsp lime juice 
  • 1 onion 
  • ½ tsp ginger garlic paste 
  • ¼ tsp turmeric tsp 
  • ½ tsp coriander powder 
  • ¼ tsp garam masala 
  • ½ tsp red chili powder 
  • 3 green chilies 
  • A handful of mint leaves 
  • A handful of coriander leaves 
  • Oil as required 
  • Salt to taste 

Method 

  • Take a bowl and add maida. Add butter, salt, lime juice, and the required amount of water, 
  • Knead a stiff dough and let the dough rest for a few minutes.  
  • Meanwhile, heat a pan and add oil. 
  • Add chopped onions, and ginger-garlic paste, and cook. Sauté everything for a few minutes.  
  • Add chopped green chili, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, red chili powder, and mint leaves.  
  • Let it cook for 1 to 2 minutes.  
  • Then, add minced meat and let it cook properly. Make sure you don’t add any water.  
  • When done, transfer the mixture to a bowl and let it cool down.  
  • Take the maida dough and roll it into a rectangular shape.  
  • Then, apply butter on the sheet and fold it like an envelope. Sprinkle dry flour when required.  
  • Place the sheet in the tray and cover it with a wet cloth. Put it in the fridge for at least 20 minutes.  
  • Repeat the entire process 2 more times. 
  • Roll the dough into a rectangular shape and cut them into squares. 
  • Put a spoonful of minced chicken mixture in between. 
  • Apply water to the edges and seal them properly. Use a fork for sealing. 
  • Deep fry in oil and serve!
