But before you start preparing for another festival, it is important to take a rest. Just to help you in taking a break from the heavy festive food, Chef Kunal Kapur has shared an amazing recipe of Daliya Khichdi on his Instagram account. I see you drooling!!!

Dalia is quite a powerful ingredient. Dalia or broken wheat is a cereal grain that forms an integral part of the staple diet. As more and more people have been becoming health conscious, something as basic as a bowl of dalia can do wonders. This simple yet tasty recipe is delicious and so humble. Made with simplest of the ingredients, this khichdi is something you will require the most after having too heavy festive food. Chef Kunal took to Instagram and wrote “A much-needed break from all the heavy festive food! Here is how you can take a break! Try this special recipe”. Ingredients

For Dalia

  • ¾ cup dalia
  • 1 ½ tsp ghee
  • ¼ cup moong dal
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 ½ cup water
  • Salt to taste

For Tadka

  • 2 tsp ghee
  • ½ cumin seeds
  • ¼ tsp hing
  • ½ ginger (chopped)
  • 2 to 3 green chilies (chopped)
  • 2 onions (chopped)
  • ¼ cup carrot
  • ¼ cup beans
  • ¼ cup peas
  • ¼ cup cauliflower
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp kasoori methi

Method

  • Take a pan and add ghee.
  • Add dalia and roast it until it turns brown and aromatic.
  • Take a pressure cooker and add roasted dalia to it.
  • Add moong dal, turmeric powder, and water.
  • Add salt and let it cook for 5 to 6 minutes or 2 to 3 whistles.
  • Heat a pan and ghee
  • Add hing and cumin powder. Let them splutter.
  • Add ginger and red chilies. Saute well.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté again.
  • Add carrot and beans.
  • Add cauliflower and mix everything well.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and kasoori methi.
  • Now add cooked dalia and mix well.
  • Add peas and mix.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
  • Enjoy!!!
